Apple Inc. announced on Wednesday an expanded, multi-year partnership with chipmaker Broadcom Inc., committing over $30 billion to boost U.S. manufacturing. This agreement, Apple’s largest U.S. manufacturing investment to date, aims to produce more than 15 billion U.S.-made chips and includes a $1.5 billion expansion of Broadcom’s facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. The collaboration, which also extends their technology partnership through 2031 for custom ASIC silicon products, is seen as mutually beneficial, with Apple relying on Broadcom for technology development and Apple remaining Broadcom’s primary revenue driver. Following the announcement, Apple’s shares traded 0.15 percent lower in pre-market, while Broadcom’s stock gained 0.29 percent.
