CFTC COT Report, Week to August 11, 2026: Canadian Dollar Net Speculative Position Rises 10k
Speculators adjusted positions across major currencies in the week to August 11, 2026. The most significant shift saw leveraged funds reduce their net short Canadian Dollar exposure by 9.7k contracts. Meanwhile, several currencies saw leveraged funds reach 52-week extremes.
Leveraged funds’ net short Canadian Dollar position shrank by 9.7k contracts, bringing their net short to -92.0k. This position is near the 52-week net short extreme of -102.5k. Asset managers also held a net short position of -104.5k contracts.
In the Euro, leveraged funds’ net short position grew by 8.4k contracts, reaching -60.6k. This places their net short near the 52-week extreme of -65.2k. Asset managers, in contrast, held a substantial net long position of +225.4k contracts.
Leveraged funds increased their net long Mexican Peso position by 8.6k contracts, pushing it to +76.3k. This marks a new 52-week net long extreme for leveraged funds in the peso. Asset managers also held a net long position of +34.2k contracts.
For the British Pound, leveraged funds increased their net long position by 2.5k contracts, bringing it to +40.7k. This position is near the 52-week net long extreme of +43.5k. Asset managers maintained a significant net short position of -119.9k contracts.
Leveraged funds’ net long US Dollar Index position grew by 1.9k contracts to +5.8k. This represents a new 52-week net long extreme for leveraged funds in the US Dollar Index. Open interest in the Mexican Peso saw a notable increase of +41.7k contracts.
