CFTC COT Report, Week to August 25, 2026: Euro Net Speculative Position Rises 19k
The most significant shift in positioning this week was seen in the Euro, where leveraged funds reduced their net short exposure by 19.4k contracts. Overall, leveraged funds increased their net long positions or shrank their net short positions in most major currencies.
Euro leveraged funds’ net short position shrank to -38.4k contracts. Asset managers maintain a substantial net long of +261.4k.
Japanese Yen leveraged funds saw their net short position grow by 9.1k contracts, reaching -77.0k. This net short position is near its 52-week extreme. Asset managers also hold a net short of -20.1k.
In the British Pound, leveraged funds’ net long position grew by 5.0k contracts to +47.9k. This marks the highest net long position for leveraged funds in the past 52 weeks. Asset managers remain significantly net short at -104.5k.
Canadian Dollar leveraged funds’ net short position shrank by 16.8k contracts, bringing their total to -72.1k. Legacy speculators hold a notable net short of -121.5k.
The US Dollar Index saw leveraged funds’ net long position grow by 1.1k contracts to +9.2k. This is the highest net long position for leveraged funds in the past 52 weeks.
Open interest saw significant increases in Australian Dollar and British Pound futures, while Canadian Dollar open interest decreased notably.
