Leveraged funds significantly increased their net long positions in the British Pound last week, while their net short positions grew across several other major currencies. The data, covering the week to July 14, 2026, shows a mixed picture of speculative activity.

In the British Pound, leveraged funds’ net position rose by +10.6k contracts, with their net long position growing to +28.5k contracts. This contrasts with asset managers, who held a net short position of -131.4k contracts. The leveraged funds’ net long position is near the upper end of its 52-week range of -1.3k to +51.5k.

Leveraged funds’ net position in the Euro fell by -8.2k contracts, as their net short position grew to -53.7k contracts. This net short position is at the -53.7k extreme of its 52-week range. Asset managers, however, maintained a substantial net long position of +247.3k contracts.

For the Canadian Dollar, leveraged funds’ net position fell by -6.8k contracts, with their net short position growing to -92.8k contracts. This net short position is at the -92.8k extreme of its 52-week range.

In the Japanese Yen, leveraged funds’ net position fell by -0.4k contracts, as their net short position grew to -90.5k contracts. This net short position is near its 52-week extreme of -115.4k. Asset managers also held a net short position of -53.8k contracts.

Open interest changes were varied across the currencies, with the British Pound seeing a notable decrease of -17.8k contracts.
