US Factory Orders month over month for August 2026, released today, August 4, 2026 at 14:01 UTC, registered a decline of 0.3%. This figure came in below the market consensus expectation of a 0.1% increase, representing a -400.0% surprise versus consensus. The previous month’s reading was revised to -1.3%.

Following the release, market reaction has been relatively subdued. Fifteen minutes after the data, AUDUSD was up 4.8 pips, EURUSD gained 6.0 pips, and GBPUSD rose 4.9 pips. NZDUSD saw a smaller increase of 1.9 pips. USDJPY moved down 7.5 pips, USDCAD was down 8.8 pips, and USDCHF declined 2.6 pips. Gold, XAUUSD, increased by 49 pips.
