  • German Ifo Business Climate Index rose to 90.2 in October.
  • Expectations index hit highest since February 2022.
  • Euro gained against US Dollar post-release.

The German Ifo Business Climate Index unexpectedly rose to 90.2 in October, surpassing market expectations and marking the sixth consecutive monthly improvement. This figure represents the highest reading since May 2023. The uplift was primarily driven by a significant increase in the Expectations Index, which climbed to 91.6—its highest level since February 2022—indicating a more optimistic outlook for the coming six months. Conversely, the Current Assessment Index declined to 88.8, suggesting businesses perceived their present situation as slightly worse. Following the release, the Euro saw some buying interest against the US Dollar, with EUR/USD trading approximately 0.1% higher.
