The US Goods Trade Balance for August was reported at a deficit of -118.806 billion USD. This figure came in wider than the consensus expectation of -104.172 billion USD. The actual release represented a -14.0% surprise compared to the consensus. The previous month’s deficit was -101.461 billion USD.

Following the release, market reaction in most major USD pairs has been limited so far. Fifteen minutes after the data, AUDUSD moved -1.9 pips, EURUSD moved +0.1 pips, and GBPUSD moved -1.8 pips.
