The New York session begins with several assets showing declines since the reference point. XAUUSD is down -1.16%, while the DE40 has fallen -0.69% and the US30 -0.59%. The NZDUSD pair has also declined by -0.53%, with the New Zealand Dollar showing the most weakness over the past 24 hours, down -0.40%. The US Dollar, in contrast, has gained +0.19%. The market’s risk meter is currently at +0.33%.

Earlier today, the US saw Initial Jobless Claims come in at 208K, below the consensus of 211K. The European Central Bank announced its Marginal Lending Facility Rate Decision at 2.65%, the Interest Rate Decision at 2.4%, matching the 2.40% consensus, and the Deposit Facility Rate Decision at 2.25%. Mexico’s First Half-Month Core CPI m/m was 0.16% against a 0.24% consensus, and First Half-Month CPI m/m was 0.07% versus a 0.09% consensus.

Positioning shifts include the crowd flipping on USDCHF, moving from 59% long to 50% short in 24 hours, and on NZDUSD, shifting from 58% short to 51% long. Retail books disagree by 20 points on USDCAD. Looking ahead, the ECB Monetary Policy Press Conference and ECB Press Conference are scheduled for 12:45 UTC, which are high impact events for the Euro. The SARB Interest Rate Decision for the South African Rand is due at 13:00 UTC, with the previous rate at 7%. Later, a 10-Year TIPS Auction for the US Dollar is set for 17:00 UTC, following a previous yield of 2.169%.
