Paramount Skydance Merger with Warner Bros. Discovery Advances Following State Antitrust Settlement
- Paramount Skydance $110 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery cleared.
- Settlement reached with 12 state attorneys general and Writers Guild.
- Deal includes commitments for 30 annual movies and job protection.
Paramount Skydance Corp. has reached a settlement with a coalition of 12 state attorneys general, led by California’s Rob Bonta, clearing a significant hurdle for its proposed $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The agreement, which also addresses concerns from the Writers Guild trade union, resolves antitrust lawsuits that sought to block the merger. Terms of the settlement include commitments to release 30 movies annually from the combined studios, protect Hollywood jobs, and maintain competitive cable prices. California Attorney General Bonta noted the settlement protects jobs but did not constitute a ‘blessing’ for the merger itself. An official announcement regarding the settlement is anticipated Monday.
