This figure came in below economists’ expectations of 208,000 and marked a decline from the prior week’s revised 207,000. The four-week moving average also rose slightly by 1,250 to 205,500. Additionally, continuing jobless claims for the week ending August 15 dropped by 18,000 to 1.778 million, further suggesting a robust employment environment.
