  • US JOLTS job openings fell to 7.359 million in June.
  • Figure missed 7.4 million forecast and May’s 7.537 million.
  • US Dollar Index edged slightly lower post-release.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) data showed 7.359 million job openings in June, a decrease from May’s 7.537 million. This figure also came in below the market expectation of 7.4 million. The openings rate remained steady at 4.4%. Hires were unchanged at 5.3 million, with total separations also holding steady at 5.4 million, including 3.2 million quits and 1.8 million layoffs and discharges. Following the release, the US Dollar (USD) Index edged slightly lower, as markets assess the implications for the upcoming broader jobs report.
