The United States has resumed military operations against Iran-aligned targets in the Middle East, marking an escalation of regional conflict after a brief five-night pause. US forces initiated strikes at 8 p.m. Wednesday stateside, described as a “powerful response” to earlier Iranian missile attacks on American personnel and attempted assaults on US forces and Saudi energy infrastructure on Tuesday. Notably, Saudi Arabian forces participated alongside their American counterparts for the first time in precision strikes against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-directed groups in Iraq. This renewed military action follows a period of de-escalation and indicates a deepening of the conflict across the region.

Iranian state media reported explosions in southern and western Iran, including Bandar Abbas, Kish, and Qeshm Island, resulting in three fatalities, including a child. These US strikes were in retaliation for Iran’s prior attacks. Iran’s IRGC forces had launched multiple ballistic missiles, targeting U.S. forces in Jordan and ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, Iran also targeted a building in northern Kuwait. Jordan reported intercepting five missiles from Iran. CENTCOM stated that all Iranian missiles targeting U.S. forces were successfully intercepted.
