Partial Fill
When only part of an order's requested size is executed because not enough liquidity was available.
Definition
A partial fill leaves the rest of your order working (or cancelled, depending on the order type — IOC cancels the remainder, GTC keeps it).
Common in low-liquidity sessions, exotic pairs, and large-size orders on smaller ECN venues. Rare in standard retail FX where the broker is a counterparty.
Example
You submit a 100-lot buy at 1.0800. The market only shows 70 lots available at 1.0800. You get filled on 70; the remaining 30 either work (limit) or cancel (IOC).
