- London storage offers better deployability and trade access in a crisis.
The Dutch Central Bank (DNB) has transferred 86 tonnes of its gold reserves from the United States and Canada to the United Kingdom. This relocation, which occurred between March and August, represents just over a quarter of the bank’s gold previously held in New York and Ottawa. DNB cited “increasing geopolitical unrest” and the need for enhanced “crisis preparedness” as the primary drivers for the move. The central bank stated that storing gold with the Bank of England in London offers greater deployability and ease of trade in a potential crisis situation.
