Initial Jobless Claims in the United States were released on 2026-07-23 at 12:28 UTC. The actual figure came in at 208K, lower than the 215K consensus expectation. This represents a -1.4% surprise versus consensus. The previous week’s figure was 208K.

Following the release, market reaction was observed across several major currency pairs and gold. Fifteen minutes after the data, AUDUSD moved -7.6 pips, EURUSD was down -6.8 pips, GBPUSD declined -6.4 pips, and NZDUSD fell -7.4 pips. USDCAD rose +6.1 pips, USDCHF gained +3.1 pips, and USDJPY climbed +13 pips. XAUUSD, or gold, dropped -51 pips 15 minutes post-release.
