The latest US Retail Control m/m data for July 2026, released today, showed an increase of 0.5%. This figure came in above the market consensus expectation of 0.1%. The previous month’s reading was 0.7%. The actual print represented a 400.0% surprise compared to the consensus forecast.

Following the release, market reactions were observed across major currency pairs and gold. Fifteen minutes after the data, AUDUSD moved -5.7 pips, EURUSD moved -12 pips, and GBPUSD moved -3.5 pips.
