Retail Inventories m/m (USD) came in at 0.7%, significantly above the consensus expectation of -0.1%. This marks a substantial increase from the previous month’s -0.2% and represents an 800.0% surprise versus consensus.

Following the release, market reactions were observed. AUDUSD moved -1.9 pips after 15 minutes, while EURUSD saw a +0.1 pip change. GBPUSD registered a -1.8 pip move, and NZDUSD was down -0.1 pips. USDCAD moved -1.8 pips, USDCHF -1.4 pips, and USDJPY -0.3 pips. These initial 15-minute moves for the major currency pairs are small when compared to their typical median 1-hour moves, which range from 7 pips to 13 pips after past releases.
