Canada’s Trimmed CPI year over year was reported at 1.9%, exceeding the consensus expectation of 1.8%. This figure also marked an increase from the previous reading of 1.8%. The actual print represented a 5.6% surprise relative to the market consensus.

Following the release, the Canadian dollar saw varied movements against major pairs over the initial 15 minutes. USDCAD moved down 4.7 pips, while AUDCAD also declined 4.7 pips. EURCAD was down 2.1 pips, GBPCAD was down 3.2 pips, and NZDCAD was down 2.7 pips. CADCHF saw a gain of 0.6 pips, and CADJPY rose 4.2 pips.
