The US Core PCE Price Index month over month, a key inflation gauge, was released today at 0.2%. No consensus figure was available for comparison.

Following the release, the US Dollar generally strengthened against major currencies. The USDJPY pair saw a rise of +17 pips 15 minutes after the release, extending to +30 pips after one hour. This one-hour move is notably larger than its historical median of 11 pips and also exceeds the top-quarter move of 21 pips seen after past releases. Gold, represented by XAUUSD, declined by -64 pips after 15 minutes and -196 pips after one hour. This one-hour move for XAUUSD is significantly larger than its median one-hour move of 29 pips and its top-quarter move of 53 pips. Other pairs like EURUSD moved -9.1 pips after 15 minutes and -15 pips after one hour, a move slightly above its median one-hour move of 11 pips but below its top-quarter move of 20 pips.
