The EIA Crude Oil Stocks Change for the week ending August 7, 2026, came in at an increase of 17.423 million barrels. This figure significantly exceeded the market consensus expectation of an increase of 6.059 million barrels, representing a surprise of 187.6%. The previous week’s change was an increase of 2.479 million barrels. The actual print indicates a much larger build in crude oil inventories than anticipated by analysts.
