Gold Ambush EA is an automated MetaTrader 5 (MT5) robot that trades XAUUSD (gold) from the H1 chart by parking pending stop orders around swing structure and waiting for a real break to hit one. Its public live signal shows 84.66% growth on a $250 account since May 2026. We ran a 100% real-tick backtest over the same dates and read every one of the 1,293 orders it placed, which turned up two claims from the listing that the log does not support and one risk it does not price. Free download at the bottom of this 2026 review.

TL;DR – Free MT5 gold breakout robot. Fixed 0.01 lots and a hard stop on every order, verified in the log. But the six strategies are not independent, three fired on one breakout in the same second, no take profit was ever attached, and the longest trade of 3 months lasted 2 hours.

What is the Gold Ambush EA?

Gold Ambush EA is a free MetaTrader 5 expert advisor that scans XAUUSD on the H1 chart for swing highs and lows, then places buy stop and sell stop orders a set distance beyond them. Nothing trades until price breaks through and fills one. Every order carries a fixed stop loss, and positions are closed by a trailing stop rather than a target.

The name fits the behaviour. It sits still under a spread of resting orders and strikes only when something crosses the line.

Core Strategy and Logic

We ran version 1.72 on a Tickmill demo, MT5 build 6090, over 19,929,917 real ticks, then read the order and deal log rather than the summary page.

  • Pending stop orders only – All 62 entries came from a buy stop or sell stop, never a market order. Of 1,293 pending orders placed, 1,231 were canceled untouched. That 4.8% fill rate is the “a genuine breakout is required” claim, measured.
  • Seven order waves a day – Fresh orders go out at 01:00, 09:00, 12:00, 14:00, 17:00, 18:00 and 20:00 server time, and each wave replaces the one before it. The median canceled order sat on the book for exactly 3 hours. The longest survived 55 hours.
  • A hard stop on every single order – All 1,293 pending orders carried a stop loss exactly 5,000 points from entry. On gold that is a $50 move, and at 0.01 lots it is $50 of risk. No order was ever sent naked.
  • Fixed lots, no recovery – Every one of the 124 deals was 0.01. The volume never changed after a loss, and no position was ever added to. The no martingale and no grid claims are true and the log shows it.
  • Three strategies, not six – The log tags entries A1, A2 and A3, and Zone B never traded. That matches the vendor’s own rule that only Zone A runs below $1,000, and our account started at $250.
  • Exits are trailing stops, not targets – Break even moves the stop after 115 points and the trail follows at 250 points. All 54 winners closed on a trailed stop. Average win came out at $4.20 against a stop that is 12 times that size.

The holding times tell the clearest story. The listing describes “multi-day swing setups”, but the longest position of the entire test lived 2 hours 17 minutes, and the average was 4 minutes 13 seconds. The live account reports the same shape at 16 minutes. What waits for days is the order, not the trade. This is a breakout scalper with a swing-structure trigger, and it belongs in the same bracket as the pending-order gold scalper we reviewed in TwisterPro rather than with slower systems like the pivot-level gold breakout robot.

Please test in a demo account first for at least a week. Also, please familiarize yourself and understand how this MT5 Gold Robot works, then only use it in a real account.

Recommendations

  • Minimum deposit: the vendor says $250. That works, but read the sizing section below before you accept it as the recommended figure. $2,500 is what the EA’s own default formula asks for.
  • Pair and timeframe: XAUUSD on H1, which is what both the live account and our test ran. Nothing else has been proven.
  • Account type: hedging, low spread ECN or raw. The 60-point spread cap is tight for gold, so a standard account with a wide gold spread will sit idle.
  • VPS is required. Orders are placed and pulled in 7 waves a day around the clock (FXVM).
  • Work out what a $50 stop means on your balance with the lot size optimizer, and check the margin per position on the margin calculator (Find the Perfect Broker For You Here).

Performance Review: Live Signal and Our Own Backtest

Two sources. The vendor’s public MQL5 signal has run on a real VTMarkets account at 1:500 leverage since May 2026, funded with $250 and never topped up. Our backtest ran on a Tickmill demo, MT5 build 6090, 100% real-tick quality, over 9 May to 12 August 2026, on the shipped defaults, with the same $250 deposit at 1:100.

The honest limits first. The live account ran at 1:500 against our 1:100, on a different broker with different swing structure in its feed, and a tester models slippage and swap imperfectly. The live account also spread its trades across two gold symbols, which we come back to below. Treat our run as a clean reference for how the strategy behaves, not a forecast of the live curve.

1. The live record

gold-ambush-ea-lizard-live-signal-mql5-xauusd-85-percent-growth-ForexCracked.com

One thing deserves credit before anything else. Deposits and withdrawals are both zero. On most signals the headline growth figure is inflated by cash moving in and out mid-period, and the real number has to be rebuilt from net profit against total capital. Here there is nothing to rebuild: $211.66 of profit on $250 deposited is the 84.66% on the page. The number is real.

What it is not is a long record. Three and a bit months and 127 trades is a sample where one good week still moves the average, and it covers a single stretch of gold’s behaviour.

2. Our backtest lines up on shape, not on size

The two records agree on everything that describes the strategy and disagree on volume. Same win rate bracket, same drawdown bracket, same tiny holding times, and in both the average loss is bigger than the average win, which is the signature that matters here. Run the arithmetic on the live figures and the account breaks even at a 60% win rate. It is currently doing 79.5%, so there is room, but not the amount of room the 84.66% headline suggests.

The trade count is the gap worth explaining. Our single chart produced 62 trades where the live account produced 127 over the same weeks, and the live signal’s own distribution panel splits them across two gold symbols, XAUUSD-STD with 99 deals and XAUUSD-ECN with 28. The published record is not one chart on one symbol, so expect a single default install to trade roughly half as often as the signal does.

3. Six strategies, one chart

gold-ambush-ea-lizard-live-stats-127-trades-profit-factor-260-mql5-ForexCracked.com
Full live statistics with the per-symbol split at the bottom, captured 2026-08-12. The rows that decide the most here are trades per week and average holding time, and neither gets read.

The listing sells six strategies running side by side, each with its own stop, target, trailing system and risk weighting. On a $250 balance only the three Zone A strategies trade, which matches the vendor’s own $1,000 gate, and our log has them taking 24, 21 and 17 entries. That part is exactly as described.

They are not independent, though. All three read the same XAUUSD H1 chart and the same swing levels, so they queue up behind the same breaks. 18 of our 62 entries opened in the same second as another strategy, and on 5 occasions all three fired at once. Each position carries its own 5,000-point stop, which is $50 at 0.01 lots, so a single breakout can commit $150 of stop-loss risk. Against the $250 minimum on the listing, that is 60% of the account riding on one move.

29 July is the worked example. Two buy stops filled at 4114.54 in the same second and both closed under water, for -$25.31 and -$27.51. Those two trades cost $52.82, which is 33% of everything the test earned in 3 months. Credit where it is due: the EA’s software exit pulled both roughly halfway to the hard stop instead of letting them run the full $50, though the log oddly tags them as take profits.

The result is concentrated at the other end too. Of 62 trades the best 20 produced 92% of the net and the best 10 produced 53%. A curve built on a handful of trades is more fragile than the same curve built evenly, because removing a few trades removes most of the result. Feed the numbers into the drawdown calculator before deciding the equity line looks calm.

4. What is the real risk on the Gold Ambush EA?

gold-ambush-ea-backtest-mfe-mae-hard-stop-loss-xauusd-h1-mt5-ForexCracked.com
Profit against best and worst excursion per trade, our $250 run. Captured 2026-08-12. On an EA with no stop the red points trail off the axis. Here nothing gets past about -$35, well inside the $50 wall.

The stop is real, the target is not. None of the 1,293 pending orders in our log carried a take profit, even though the listing says every trade has a defined stop loss and take profit. The stop was always there and the scatter above shows it holding. The target simply was not, and all 54 winners came off the trail instead.

Losses will not arrive one at a time. The Z-Score came out at -2.58 with 99.01% confidence, meaning results cluster rather than alternate. On a system that already needs a 60% hit rate to break even, a cold streak is the shape to plan for.

The prop firm feature is off. InpMaxDailyDD ships at 0.0, so the daily drawdown cap the listing advertises for challenge accounts does nothing until you set it yourself.

Read that last row before the others. The lowest profit factor in the table sits on 3,500 trades and is worth more than the two higher numbers built on a few dozen. Our 12-point EA scam checklist covers why sample size beats headline numbers every time.

5. What deposit should you actually use?

The $250 minimum works and the live signal proves it runs. It is also the floor: 0.01 lots is the smallest gold position most brokers accept, and the EA’s 5,000-point stop makes that $50 on every trade. The auto-lot input InpDollarPer001 ships at 2500, one 0.01 lot per $2,500 of balance, so every account under $2,500 trades that same floor lot and the dollars below stay identical. Only the percentages move.

$250 account (as tested)$2,500 account (where auto lot starts scaling)
Lot per trade0.01, the broker minimum0.01, the first step of auto lot
Net profit, 3 months+$155.97 (+62.4%)+$155.97 (+6.2%)
Risk if one full stop is hit$50 (20% of deposit)$50 (2% of deposit)
Worst day in our test-$52.82 (21.1%)-$52.82 (2.1%)
Max equity drawdown$67.03 (14.9% reported)$67.03 (2.7% of deposit)

That is the honest reading of the 84.66% on the signal: a real return on a real account, earned at the largest position gold allows relative to $250.

6. When it trades

gold-ambush-ea-backtest-entries-by-hour-weekday-xauusd-h1-mt5-ForexCracked.com
Entry distribution from our own run, captured 2026-08-12. The clusters sit on the Asian open and the New York afternoon, and the red bars underneath are where the losses live.

Entries concentrate in two windows, 02:00 to 05:00 and 16:00 to 18:00 server time, and none landed in the 00:00, 08:00, 10:00, 11:00, 14:00, 19:00 or 23:00 hours. That is consistent with the advertised kill-hour filter, though 62 trades is not enough to prove a blocked hour from an empty one. Tuesday and Wednesday carried 42 of the 62 entries, Thursday only 2, and nothing traded at the weekend.

The NFP filter did visible work. Across the three NFP Fridays in our window it allowed one entry, at 16:59 server time on 5 June, after the filter’s 60-minute post-release window had closed. Both other releases passed with orders on the book and no fills.

Gold Ambush EA

A free MT5 XAUUSD breakout robot that rests pending stop orders at swing levels and exits on a trailing stop within minutes. Our real-tick backtest over the same 3 months as its live signal reproduced the shape of the record and showed why the return on a $250 account is so large.

Risk mechanics
Track record
Profitability

Pros

  • Hard stop loss attached to all 1,293 pending orders in our test, always exactly 5,000 points away
  • Volume fixed at 0.01 across all 124 deals, no averaging, no grid, no recovery ladder
  • Extremely selective: 1,293 orders placed, 62 filled, so 95.2% were canceled without ever trading
  • Both records agree on direction month by month, including the flat-to-negative July 2026
  • Out of the market almost all the time, with live trading activity of 2.11%

Cons

  • Up to 3 of the 6 strategies fired on the same breakout in the same second, putting $150 of stop-loss risk on the advertised $250 minimum
  • No take profit was attached to any of the 1,293 pending orders, despite the listing promising one on every trade
  • Positions last minutes, not the multi-day swing setups the listing describes
  • Average loss is larger than average win in both records ($5.08 against $3.40 live), so everything rests on the 80% win rate holding

Summary

3.5

Mechanically this is a clean build. Every one of the 1,293 pending orders in our test carried a hard stop, the volume never moved off 0.01, and nothing was ever added to a loser. Our independent run landed a 3.20 profit factor against the live 2.60 and matched the live account's losing month. What the log does not support is the marketing around it. The six strategies read the same chart and stack on the same breakout, no take profit was ever attached to anything, positions live minutes rather than the advertised multi-day swings, and 127 live trades is far too short a record to settle any of it.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The public MQL5 signal shows $211.66 of profit on a $250 deposit between May and August 2026, with no top-up deposits, so the 84.66% growth is genuine. Our own real-tick backtest over the same dates returned 62.4% with a 3.20 profit factor. Both records are only about 3 months long, which is too short to call an edge proven.
No. Across all 124 deals in our test the volume never moved off 0.01 lots, no position was ever added to a losing one, and every order carried a stop loss 5,000 points away. The no martingale and no grid claims on the listing hold up in the log.
The listing says $250 and it does run on that. Size it from the stop instead of the minimum: every order carries a 5,000-point stop, which is $50 at 0.01 lots, so a $250 account risks 20% on one trade and up to 60% when all three strategies fire on the same breakout. The auto-lot input only starts scaling the lot above $2,500.
It has the right shape for it, with a hard stop on every trade and no averaging, and it exposes a maximum daily drawdown input for challenge rules. That input ships at 0, meaning disabled, so you have to set it yourself before a challenge. Also check that your firm allows the 0.01 gold lot at your account size.
Minutes. In our backtest the average position lasted 4 minutes 13 seconds and the longest of the entire 3 months ran 2 hours 17 minutes. The live account averages 16 minutes. The pending orders can rest for up to 55 hours waiting, but the trades themselves are intraday.
Most often the spread. InpMaxSpread ships at 60 points, which many standard gold accounts exceed all day, and no order is placed above that. Beyond that the EA is simply selective: 95.2% of the pending orders in our test were canceled without filling, and only 24 days out of 67 produced a single entry.

Conclusion

Gold Ambush EA is one of the cleaner gold robots we have opened up this year: a hard stop on all 1,293 orders, 0.01 lots that never move, nothing added to a loser, and an independent real-tick run that reproduced the live signal’s win rate, drawdown and losing month. However, the six strategies are not independent, three of them fired on the same breakout in the same second and one bad day cost a third of the test’s profit, no take profit was ever attached despite the listing promising one on every trade, and 127 trades across 3 months is nowhere near enough history to trust an edge that rests entirely on an 80% win rate. Demo it, size the deposit from the $50 stop rather than from the $250 on the listing, and read the published growth as one friendly quarter at the smallest lot gold allows.
