The Breakthrough Strategy EA is a free Forex Bot for MetaTrader 4 (MT4) that trades 12 forex pairs from a single chart using ready-made preset “sets.” It is best known for one trading style: opening positions around the close of the Friday session and holding into the new week. The robot ships with two very different risk profiles, a Conservative hard-stop scalping mode and an Aggressive grid and martingale mode, which is the single most important thing to understand before you run it.

This article is a 2026 update. The original 8-year live signal that featured here has since been deleted, so the review now leans on a newer verified live signal running since 2025, plus the archived figures from the old account. Below you get the strategy logic, the key inputs, both sets of live data side by side, and a free download link for testing.

TL;DR – Free MT4 multi currency bot, 12 pairs, Friday close focus. The Conservative mode (hard stop loss, no grid) is the safe face; the Aggressive mode adds grid and martingale and is what eventually sank the deleted 8-year account. New live signal since 2025 shows 69.28% growth, 92.2% win rate, 10.4% equity drawdown. Needs a low-spread account and a VPS

What Is the Breakthrough Strategy EA?

The Breakthrough Strategy EA is a free MetaTrader 4 (MT4) robot that trades a basket of 12 forex pairs (EURUSD, EURCAD, EURAUD, EURNZD, GBPCAD, GBPAUD, AUDNZD, GBPJPY, USDCHF, USDCAD, CADCHF, AUDCAD) from one chart. It opens trades mainly at the Friday close, picks settings from ready-made preset sets, and can run either as a hard-stop scalper or as a grid and martingale system depending on which mode you enable.

Core Strategy and Logic

At its core the EA is a multi-currency basket trader. You attach it to one chart, point it at the pair list, and it manages entries and exits across all 12 symbols at once. Each pair has author-developed preset sets, and the Trading_Scheme input lets you load a ready set instead of tuning dozens of parameters by hand.

The strategy itself has two building blocks the author labels “Breach” and “Channel,” selected with the Breach_else_Channel input, plus two optional optimization blocks (A and B). The practical takeaway for most users is the mode split:

  • Conservative Mode – Scalping (taking small, frequent profits) in quiet conditions with a hard stop loss (a fixed exit that caps the loss on every trade). No grid, no martingale. This is the lower-risk face of the EA.
  • Aggressive Mode – Enables Use_Grid_mode, which replaces the stop loss with position averaging. New trades are added against the move and lotan class="fc-gloss-tip" data-slug="lot-size" tabindex="0">lot size is scaled up by Multiplier_of_trade_Lot. This is grid trading (stacking orders at intervals) combined with martingale (increasing size after a loss).
  • Friday-Close Focus – The author’s main direction is opening trades around the Friday session close. Day of week toggles let you trade any day, but the published sets are built around this timing.
  • Multi-Timeframe Reads – The EA pulls data from several timeframes automatically, so the chart timeframe you attach it to does not change behaviour.
  • Built-In News Filter – Trading can pause before and after high, medium, or low importance news to avoid the volatility spikes that hurt scalping systems.

If you have looked at the Forex Tramp EA, a multi-currency soft-martingale system, the Aggressive mode here sits in the same family. The Conservative mode is closer in spirit to a plain hard-stop scalper.

Key Features of the Breakthrough Strategy EA

  • Preset Set Library – Author-built sets per pair, expandable, loaded through the Trading_Scheme input instead of manual tuning.
  • Automatic GMT Detection – In live trading GMT_Offset_AUTO=true syncs the EA to your broker’s server time; verify it against a clock source like time.is/GMT.
  • News Filter via WebRequest – Enable “Allow WebRequest” in MT4 and add the news URL (ForexFactory nfs.faireconomy.media or Investing sslecal2.investing.com) so trading pauses around releases.
  • MT4 Build – The EA runs on MetaTrader 4; the current verified live signal runs on an MT4 account.

Please test in a demo account first for at least a week. Also, please familiarize yourself and understand how this Breakthrough Strategy Robot works, then only use it in a real account.

Recommendations for FREE Forex Bot

  • Minimum deposit: Depends on the set you load; the minimum is specified with each set. Treat grid sets as needing far more cushion than scalping sets.
  • Pairs: Works on all 12 pairs that have presets. Trade the basket, not a single symbol.
  • Timeframe: Any. The EA reads multiple timeframes itself, so attach it anywhere.
  • Platform: MetaTrader 4. The basket trades live from one chart; the MT4 tester backtests one pair at a time, so test pairs individually on M1.
  • VPS: Run the Breakthrough Strategy bot on a VPS continuously for stable results (Reliable and Trusted FOREX VPS – FXVM).
  • Account type: Low spread, low slippage, fast execution (Find the Perfect Broker For You Here).

Performance Review: Two Signals, One Story

There are two live records worth looking at, and they tell opposite halves of the same story. Do not confuse them: one is the current account, the other is the deleted 8-year account that used to headline this page.

The current live signal (since 2025)

The newer verified signal runs on a Vantage MT4 account at 1:500 leverage (screenshots captured 2026-05-29). What the headline numbers actually tell you matters more than the numbers themselves.

The profit factor and recovery factor are the standout reads, and both point the same way: this is the Conservative profile working as intended. Realised losses are kept trivially small and losing streaks never compound, so the equity curve climbs in clean steps rather than the saw-tooth you get from a recovery system clawing back deep holes. The pair distribution lines up with the published preset list, which confirms the account is running the author’s sets rather than a hand-tuned one-off.

The one detail the screenshot rewards a closer look at is the drawdown split. Balance drawdown is near zero while equity drawdown is roughly ten times larger. That gap is the only honest warning here: the EA does sit underwater on its open multi-pair basket between closes, even though the trades that finally close almost all close green. It is mild on this account, but it is the same mechanism that, dialled up, sank the old signal below. The other caveat is plain context: a year on a $100 account is a promising sample, not a full market cycle, and the dollar profit is small by design.

The deleted 8-year signal (archived)

The account that used to anchor this article ran on IC Markets from 2017 to 2024 at 1:500 leverage. It has since been deleted, so these are archived figures kept for context.

Analysis: The 2,269% headline is the number people remember, and it is not fake. Across its life the account took $1,500 in deposits and paid out $5,325 in withdrawals, so it did return real money for years, with standout runs of +239% in 2019 and +180% in 2020. But the profit factor was only 1.31, meaning each trade barely won on average, and the result leaned entirely on the grid and martingale mechanics. When a basket finally ran the wrong way, the damage was severe: a single losing sequence cost $1,007 across 3 closes, the worst trade lost $390, and the balance fell from roughly $6,000 to about $1,000. The account then drifted to -2.7% in 2023 and -10.4% in 2024 before the signal was removed.

That is the real lesson of this EA. The same robot can show a 92% win rate with a 1% balance drawdown in scalping mode, or a 43% drawdown and an eventual decline in grid mode. The mode is the risk, not the brand. If you are weighing the Aggressive mode, read our guide to spotting forex EA risks first, because a high win rate with a low profit factor is exactly the martingale pattern it warns about. The Undefeated Triangle martingale EA review shows the same equity-curve shape.

Breakthrough Strategy EA

Live Track Record
Strategy Flexibility
Risk Management

✓ Pros

  • Trades 12 currency pairs from a single chart with author-tuned preset sets
  • Conservative mode uses a hard stop loss on every trade and avoids grid and martingale
  • Built-in news filter (MT4 via WebRequest to ForexFactory or Investing) pauses trading around releases
  • Reads multiple timeframes automatically, so the chart timeframe you attach it to does not matter

✗ Cons

  • Aggressive mode replaces the stop loss with position averaging; this is what blew up the old signal
  • The deleted 8-year account hit a 43.10% drawdown and ended with negative annual growth
  • Large, intimidating input list; the wrong scheme on a small account is dangerous
  • Best results are tied to a specific Friday-close behaviour, not all-day trading

Summary

3.0

A flexible free bot with a genuinely conservative scalping mode that holds up well on the current live signal. The catch is the optional Aggressive grid and martingale mode, which produced the headline 2,000%+ returns on the old account and also the 43% drawdown that gave most of them back before the signal was removed. Pick the mode deliberately.

Frequently Asked Questions

The current verified live signal shows 69.28% growth since 2025 with a 92.20% win rate and an 8.17 profit factor across 77 trades, run in the Conservative mode. Profitability in the Aggressive grid mode is far less stable; the previous 8-year account reached over 2,000% but then hit a 43% drawdown and finished with negative annual growth before being deleted.
Only if you enable it. With Use_Grid_mode = false the EA trades with a hard stop loss and no averaging. With Use_Grid_mode = true it switches to grid and martingale, adding larger positions against the move instead of using a stop loss. The mode you load determines the entire risk profile.
There is no single figure; the minimum is specified with each preset set. Conservative scalping sets need less cushion, while grid sets need substantially more capital to survive the floating drawdown. Use the drawdown calculator with your chosen risk percentage before funding the account.
It is not recommended. The Conservative mode’s floating equity drawdown (10.44% on the live signal) and the Aggressive mode’s history of 43% drawdown both sit at or above the limits most prop firms allow. This is better suited to a personal account where you set the maximum drawdown yourself.

Conclusion

The Breakthrough Strategy EA is a capable free bot whose risk depends entirely on the mode you choose. In Conservative scalping mode the current live signal is clean and consistent, with a 92.2% win rate and barely 1% balance drawdown across a year. However, the same EA in Aggressive grid and martingale mode produced both the famous 2,000%+ run and the 43% drawdown that gave most of it back before the old signal was deleted. For a personal account where you control the risk and run the no-grid sets on a low-spread broker with a VPS, this is a reasonable free addition to test. Treat the Aggressive sets as high-risk and size for the drawdown, not the headline.
