TabTrade is a MetaTrader 5 broker that opened for trading in March 2026. It rests on three bets:

  • price on the average spread, not the minimum
  • build for traders who let Expert Advisors do the work
  • keep the account line-up short enough to explain in a sentence

Its own tagline says it plainly: markets made simple.

It was built by someone who spent most of his career inside two other brokers. For scores and costs, see our full TabTrade review.

Who’s behind TabTrade

TabTrade was founded by Benjamin Boulter, a former Pepperstone and BlackBull Markets executive. He joined Pepperstone in Melbourne in 2015 and worked on its marketing and growth until 2018. That year he moved to BlackBull Markets as head of partnerships. He became chief operating officer in 2021 and chief strategy officer in 2023, and left in September 2024.

Benjamin Boulter Founder and CEO, TabTrade Pepperstone, 2015 to 2018. BlackBull Markets, 2018 to 2024: head of partnerships, then COO and CSO.

BlackBull was not a safe bet when he joined. “I sold my family home to buy into BlackBull Markets before it was regulated,” he told TradeInformer in June. By the time he sold his stake, the business had reached what he called “a nine-figure valuation”.

That exit funds most of TabTrade. Boulter is the main backer, and several other investors are former Pepperstone colleagues. This is not a first-time operator learning how a broker runs.

The idea: markets made simple

Most broker adverts lead with the minimum spread, the best price of the best second of the day. Boulter’s argument, set out in his essay on why average spreads matter more than minimum spreads, is that traders pay the average across the month, so that is the number to judge a broker on.

So TabTrade built its pricing around the average and kept the rest simple. There are three main accounts: Standard with no minimum, Edge with raw spreads plus commission, and VIP. Cent and swap-free accounts sit alongside them, all fed from one multi-currency wallet.

The traders it attracted are the ones this site knows well.

“Most of our traders now use EAs and are on gold.”

Benjamin Boulter, TabTrade founder, to TradeInformer, June 2026

An EA pays the average spread on every trade, every hour it runs, which is why the average is the figure that matters to it.

What TabTrade does differently

Spreads measured on the average

TabTrade commissioned Datalyst, a pricing data firm, to measure its Edge account across April 2026. Datalyst used data from more than 10,000 live trading accounts and left out the daily rollover window, when spreads widen everywhere. The result was an average of 0.04 pips across the seven major pairs, the tightest in the comparison, with several majors averaging 0.00 in peak European hours.

Hundredths of a pip sound small, but a scalping EA pays them on every trade, and over a month they add up. Our review sets out the pair-by-pair figures and how they compare.

Built for traders who run EAs

Expert Advisors, scalping and hedging are allowed on every account, and standard fair-use rules apply. The Cent account sizes positions at a hundredth of a standard lot, so a new EA you have already backtested in the Strategy Tester can run on live prices with very little at risk.

To keep an EA running, TabTrade has these options:

  • Sponsored VPS – free for the following month once you trade USD 4 million in a calendar month, about 36 standard lots of EUR/USD.
  • TabTrade+ – paid members on Edge get VPS hosting included.
  • VIP – comes with a sponsored server at Equinix London.
  • Beeks and NYC Servers – hosting as add-ons.
  • FIX API – for traders who outgrow MetaTrader.

The infrastructure behind it

Orders route through Equinix LD5 in London and NY4 in New York, the data centres where banks and prime brokers house their own servers. TabTrade targets under 30 milliseconds on Standard and Edge. It describes its execution as a hybrid model: each order is either matched internally or passed to outside liquidity providers through a OneZero bridge, automatically and with no manual intervention. Most retail brokers work this way. Fewer say so when asked.

For an EA, that shows up in how fast orders fill when the market moves.

Seven months in

TabTrade has moved quickly since launch:

  • March – opened for trading.
  • April – launched TradePoints, a loyalty scheme for funding and trading volume.
  • May – published the Datalyst spread study, and ran a demo trading contest with BestPropFirms.
  • June – launched TabTrade Social, its copy-trading service, on web, iOS and Android.
  • July – received a full Investment Dealer licence from the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius, and appointed a market strategist for Latin America.
  • September – held its first live webinar.

Along the way it has built a 4.5 Trustpilot rating from 31 reviews, with support speed the most common praise.

Where it’s heading

More platforms come first. cTrader and TradingView are both marked coming soon, and the DupliTrade copy-trading integration is pending. cTrader would give algo traders a second platform beside MetaTrader 5.

It is also building regional strength. Boulter has said TabTrade is “doing quite well in Thailand”, and its Latin America strategist and first Spanish-language webinar point the same way. In June he also said TabTrade has “prop in the works”, to launch later this year, with its May demo contest the first step towards it.

On licensing, Boulter has said TabTrade is not going down “the super expensive, overly regulated market route”. That keeps leverage high and costs low, and explains the trade-offs below.

What to weigh before you open an account

TabTrade got the pricing and the plumbing right first. Our review is direct about the gaps:

  • One offshore licence – FSC Mauritius, no Tier-1 regulator, and no investor compensation scheme.
  • No negative balance protection – with leverage up to 1:1000, a fast market can take an account below zero. Size an EA’s lots for the balance, not the leverage. Our lot size calculator does the sum.
  • MetaTrader 5 only – MT4 EAs will not run, so you need the MT5 version.
  • Seven months of history – not long enough to see how a firm behaves under stress.
  • Education is just starting – learn elsewhere, practise here.

TabTrade also turns away residents of 57 countries and territories, including the US, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Spain. Our TabTrade review scores it 4.2 out of 5, and its country checker shows the position for where you live.

Common questions

Yes. TabTrade (Mauritius) Ltd holds an Investment Dealer licence from the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius, number GB26206419, granted in July 2026. It is an offshore licence, with no investor compensation scheme.
Benjamin Boulter, a former Pepperstone and BlackBull Markets executive, founded it and is its main backer.
Yes. Expert Advisors, scalping and hedging are allowed on every account, and standard fair-use rules apply. TabTrade runs on MetaTrader 5, so you need the MT5 version of an EA.

Want to try it with an EA? The Cent account starts with a few dollars, and our free MT5 EA library and 5 best free EAs for small accounts are good places to find one.

Risk warning: leveraged forex and CFDs are high risk, and at TabTrade you can lose more than your deposit because it does not offer negative balance protection. Spread measurements and backtests do not guarantee future results. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
